About Us

The Lanka Business Community on HIV and AIDS (LBCH) was established after the 8th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICCAP) which was held in Sri Lanka in August 2007. LBCH is modelled on the Global Business Coalition on HIV and AIDS and is a member of the Asia Pacific Business Coalition on AIDS.
The goal of LBCH is to leverage the business community to make a committed response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It also provides a platform from which policies and awareness programmes can be coordinated and executed efficiently by pooling resources and knowledge that exists within the business community.
LBCH works with its members to ensure that each of the organisations has an HIV/AIDS Workplace Policy in place, and provides ongoing customised HIV/AIDS awareness programmes. Professional trainers conduct these programmes at no cost to member organisations. As the programme develops, each of the member organisations will be provided with training skills and resources, enabling them to conduct awareness programmes in house.
In the long term, LBCH intends to identify vulnerable subgroups in areas that are often difficult to access. LBCH will encourage businesses operating in such areas to join the coalition and raise awareness through the shared learning and skills of its members.
